VTimer — Privacy Policy

VTimer is a Pomodoro / Tabata / stopwatch timer that can be controlled by voice or by typing. This page explains, plainly, what the extension does and does not do with your data.

The short version: VTimer does not collect, sell, or transmit your personal data. Your timer settings and history stay on your own computer. Voice recognition is handled entirely by your browser, not by us. We do not run any server that stores anything about you.

What stays on your device

All settings, timer state, statistics, and preferences are saved locally in your browser's own storage (chrome.storage.local). This data:

never leaves your computer,
is not synced to any account or server,
is only readable by the extension itself,
is removed if you uninstall the extension.

Microphone and voice commands

Voice commands are optional. When you press the microphone button:

Audio is sent to your browser's own speech-recognition service (the same one behind Chrome's built-in voice search) only while you are holding the microphone button.
VTimer never records, stores, or has access to the raw audio itself — only the text the browser recognized is passed to the extension's own local command parser.
Nothing is sent to VTimer's developer at any point in this process.

Spoken replies

When "Speak announcements" is on, replies are read aloud using your operating system's own installed voices (chrome.tts), entirely offline — nothing is sent anywhere for this.

Optional Pro features

VTimer offers optional paid features (natural-language voice commands, AI conversation, and a cloud-based voice) that are off by default and require activating a purchased license. If and when these are enabled:

Your license key is sent to our licensing server to confirm it is valid.
The text of your spoken or typed command (never raw audio) is sent to our server, which forwards it to a third-party AI provider to generate a response, then returns that response to the extension.
This only happens for the specific command you gave, at the moment you gave it — nothing is sent in the background, and nothing is sent at all unless these Pro features are turned on.

Payments

Purchases are handled entirely by our payment processor (Lemon Squeezy). VTimer never sees or stores your payment details.

Third parties

VTimer does not sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers or data brokers. The only external services involved are the ones described above (your browser's own speech engine, and, only for optional Pro features, our licensing/AI relay).

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date at the top of this page will change too.
